Overview
The goal of the Certificate in Podcasting is to prepare Temple undergraduate students from any major across campus to develop the necessary expertise in content and production to deliver their own podcasts or to collaborate with others who are working in podcasts as a medium for content delivery.
The certificate requires three courses (10 credit hours) from the Klein College curriculum. From the department of Communication, COMC 4404 Podcasting for Civic Engagement addresses the question of how podcasting can be used to engage audiences in important conversations around social issues. This course provides students with experience in creating a podcast from development to distribution. From the department of Journalism, JRN 3575 Podcasting and Audio Journalism educates students on the fundamentals of interviewing, producing and hosting programs, along with audio editing. In this course, students produce podcast content, meet professional podcasters and community storytellers, and get feedback on their work. From the department of Media Studies and Production, students in MSP 2771 Principles of Podcasting learn the necessary sound design and technical skills to produce their own podcast episodes.
