Overview
The 18-credit Minor in Geography and Urban Studies, offered by the Department of Geography, Environment and Urban Studies, explores how people, places, and the built environment shape one another at local and global scales. This minor is open to students in all other majors.
Students develop critical thinking, spatial analysis, and research skills to understand and address global challenges like sustainable development, transportation, and housing inequality. Coursework focuses on themes of globalization, sustainability, social justice, and geographic methods.
In a job market where technical and interdisciplinary skills are increasingly valued, the Geography and Urban Studies minor adds depth and dimension to your degree, equipping you with expertise in GIS and spatial analysis alongside a broader lens through which to apply your primary area of study.
